IDES PARTNER STORY: 12/25/2021

IDES is working with several different partners in and around Afghanistan. These partners are working tirelessly to provide aid to the Afghanistan refugees and IDPs. One of our partners has been able to touch the lives of more than 1,000 refugee families. They have established a multi-phase plan to help these families as the Christmas season approaches.

Phase 1 of their relief efforts consisted of providing families with bags of food and audio bibles. These bibles are in their native language and for many of these families, it is the first time they are hearing the Gospel in their native language. IDES partners have established long-term relationships with these refugee families and are following up with them twice a week to make sure they have what they need, and to continue sharing the love of Christ with them. Our partners have also established a 6-month course for the refugee women, teaching them how to sew. Upon completion of this course, the women will be given a sewing/cutting kit that will help them continue using the skills they have learned to provide for their families.

Phase 2 has just been completed (12/13 - 12/18). IDES partners have distributed relief packages to more refugee families. These relief packages include things like blankets, flood relief items, medications, audio bibles, and so much more. Our partners are then using this connection to share the Good News with these refugees and their families.

Going forward, they will be distributing more relief packages to refugee families including Christmas gift items.

The refugee families, fleeing from the violence in Afghanistan have had to leave everything they know and many times everything they owned in order to keep themselves and their families safe. As the bitter cold winter months are approaching, these families are in desperate need of basic necessities. IDES partners are able to meet these very basic physical needs through your faithful giving. However, not only are they meeting the physical needs of these refugees; they are also sharing the Gospel and love of Christ with these families, and providing for the even greater spiritual need.

This is all possible because of you, your prayers, and your generous donations. There is still a great need for funding in order to continue providing for these refugee and IDP families. If you would like to donate to these relief efforts, please click the link below. Every penny of your designated donation will go directly to these relief efforts and will continue to provide for both the physical AND spiritual needs of the Afghanistan people.
