Dunnville, KY House Project

It all started because of unforeseen circumstances, the Lord directed us to a church we had never worked with before, Dunnville Christian Church.

We called them up to introduce ourselves and check in on their community. They ended up saying that most of the community was spared but they had already heard a few families were affected and they were interested in helping out.

We waited a week and followed up with Matt Loper, the family life pastor at Dunnville CC, and they narrowed down that one family in particular was hurting badly from the flooding.

The Hatter family had a foot of water creep into their home which caused the foundation of the home to sink and the home to crumble on itself. This deemed the house a total loss and would not be able to be saved.

Unfortunately, this family had no home insurance and little savings to work with in this tragedy. To make matters worse, the father of the family (Chris Hatter) suffered a heart attack earlier that fall and had been out of work since.

The leadership at Dunnville CC saw the need was present in this families' life and wanted to come alongside them in this struggle. The church decided the best way to help this family was to help them purchase a modular home.

Dunnville CC approached IDES with this idea and the leadership was instantly intrigued. While IDES’ Disaster Coordinator was responding in Irvine, he traveled over one afternoon to meet with the church and the Hatter family at the disaster site to see the great need they had. Instantly, he knew this family needed a new house and there was no way of saving it.

The modular home was brought in on May 18th to be installed on an acre of land behind their original residence that a local farmer graciously donated. 

All during this time, the pastors of the church have been pouring into this family and sharing the Gospel with them. The family has begun watching online and continually asking the pastors questions about faith.

Providing a solution to this great physical need allowed IDES’ staff and Dunnville CC pastors to share the love of Christ with this family. We are able to share the Gospel with so many people simply by offering Help & Hope during their time of need. We are so grateful for our partnership with Dunnville CC and the impact they had on this family.
