Ghana Wells
IDES is a part of so many projects in so many different countries every single week. These projects fit into one of our Five Focus areas (Disaster Response, Hunger Relief, Community Development, Medical Care, and Evangelism). Community Development is a unique focus area, in that we offer those in need a “Hand-up”, not just a “Hand-Out”. Development projects are ones that will last for a long time, providing a sustainable source of water, food, livestock income, etc.
IDES partner, Training Tomorrow’s Leaders, are working with people in Northern Ghana, serving the unreached people of this region. With the help of IDES and its faithful donors, 110 churches have been planted in these 3 countries!
IDES recently partnered with Training Tomorrow’s Leaders to implement a three phase water project. Through the partnership with IDES, this mission was able to drill three new wells in three different communities. These wells will now provide clean drinking water for the more than 4,000 people in these communities.
In addition to the wells that were dug, IDES was able to provide 2 boats, materials/beads and bibles. These boats will make travel in this area much easier for the missionaries as they share the love of Christ with the people they serve. The materials were given to the mission’s girls vocational school that trains the girls how to make jewelry, hats, and other items which offer a way for them to generate income for themselves and their families. Finally, we were able to send Bibles for the churches so they can continue to share the Gospel with the people in Ghana and provide them with a physical copy of God’s Word.
We love working with partners like Training Tomorrow’s Leaders, to provide projects like these! We were able to give them a source of water and vocational training materials, both offering long-term sustainable sources of water and income so they are able to provide for their families. Helping mold two boats so our missionaries can better travel the area and provide them with a physical copy of the Bible.
This project is just another example of how providing for the physical needs of people opens the door and allows us to share the love of Christ and care for their spiritual needs. We are so grateful for our partnership with Training Tomorrow’s Leaders and the work they are doing in Ghana.
