Responding to Hurricane Melissa

In the days since Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica as a Category 5 storm, IDES has been in touch with numerous partners in Jamaica and affected areas of Haiti. While there are reports of widespread destruction in both countries, we’re praising God that our partners are safe so far. We have had IDES team members on the ground shortly after the hurricane to assess damage and provide initial relief. Currently, IDES is working with partners to provide emergency relief. Our partners will be on the ground distributing items such as food, clean water, tarps, and other essentials during the initial aftermath of the hurricane. We are currently in constant contact with church partners in the area to help provide relief in the coming weeks and months. Please join us in praying for wisdom and guidance as we provide relief so that plans can be made more efficiently and effectively.

We provide relief when disasters strike here in the US and work internationally with churches, mission partners, and our own international field workers. Whether relief is needed due to a natural or man-made event, we will continue to respond when disasters strike here in the U.S. and internationally working with churches and mission partners to Rebuild communities and Restore Hope through Disciple-Making efforts.

DISCIPLE-MAKING

Our prayer and focus is that our work in Development and Disaster Response will lead to Disciple-Making. 

In everything we do, our priority is to share the love of Christ with those who are hurting. Through efforts like Integral Disciple-Making, the Rick Jett Leadership Fund, bible distributions and

translations, we hope to make disciples who make disciples.

DEVELOPMENT

SUPPORT | SUSTAIN | SUCCEED

Development is one of the most effective methods of reaching communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our development projects over the years have seen whole communities transformed not only physically but spiritually as well.

With the addition of Field Workers who are trained to meet development needs, IDES will be able to support communities and bring sustainability that will lead to success both physically and spiritually.
