Hurricane Ian

The work in Florida following Hurricane Ian is plentiful and volunteers are needed to continue providing aid to those in need. We have been able to help more than 300 families by removing debris, placing tarps on roofs, and assisting with repairs to their homes. There are many more people in need of help and you can be a part of that!

Over 100 homeowners helped and more than 300 volunteers deployed in 3 weeks!
IDES has been able to help over 100 homeowners with everything from tarping roofs and clearing debris to providing them with basic necessities in just 3 short weeks! We are partnering with several churches in Florida and have had an incredible volunteer turnout over the past few weeks.

IDES initial relief work continues. So far, we have been able to help over 100 people by delivering food and water, tarping roofs, and clearing debris from their yards. Roughly 100 volunteers have come out to help those affected by Hurricane Ian.

Hurricane Ian clean-up continues in Florida. The category 4 hurricane caused widespread damage across the state.
We have had a record number of churches reach out to us requesting aid for themselves and their communities. The damage from this hurricane is so great, it will likely be our largest response in recent years.

Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida on Wednesday, September 28th, as one of the biggest storms to ever hit the U.S. Severe flooding has damaged homes, blocked roadways, and left many people stranded in their homes. More than 2 million people have been left without power.
IDES disaster coordinators are arriving in Florida tonight to begin initial assessments. We have already been in contact with a number of churches and are starting to reach out to homeowners who need our assistance.
We will begin taking volunteers as early as next week, October 3rd. Volunteers will be assisting with debris removal, clean-up, and water/supply distribution. If you are interested in volunteering, please click the link below or email our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@ides.org.
