Everyone has a favorite season, right? Mine is Spring! For some people who know me, that might not be their first guess, but I LOVE this time of year.
I love that it is cool in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. I love seeing all the plants come into bloom. And I especially love that it isn’t dark at 7 o’ clock in the evening. In our neighborhood, we have trees lining the streets that bloom a beautiful white color in the spring, but later in the summer they turn pink.
This is a special spring for me because it is my son’s first spring. Watching his face darting from plant, to tree, to bunny rabbit, back to colorful plant— it sparks a new joy in my heart.
The other day our son had a rough day, he wouldn’t go down for his last nap, which means that, as parents, we know that he is going to have a GRUMPY time later that day.
Our son is a blessing to our lives. …Except when he doesn’t want to go to sleep—then he turns into more of a nightmare. But then, he wakes up, and he’s back to his usual smiley, laughing self.
Watching him has reminded me of the passage in Lamentations about God’s mercies and how they are new every morning. God won’t stop loving us even if we miss that nap and are maybe a bit more cranky than usual.
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
